When the PetSafe® Indoor Bark Control is within range of a barking dog, an internal microphone picks up the sound. The unit automatically emits an ultrasonic tone that can be heard by dogs but is silent to most humans. Startled by the high-pitched tone, the dog should stop barking. In time it will associate its bark with this unpleasant noise. When the dog stops barking, the ultrasonic tone also stops. It is effective up to 8 metres. Use 1 unit for 1 room or 2 units for multi-room coverage.
Immediately after commissioning the product, our Jack Russell became stressed and agitated (jumping up at my legs; severe panting), and I immediately felt nauseas and dizzy. I've switched it off and we've both normalised. I'll be returning it.
> PetSafe Response: Hello Sean, thank you for your comments on our Indoor Bark Control. We're really sorry to hear your Jack Russel became agitated and you felt unwell. Ultrasonic sounds may not work for all dogs and in very rare cases can have effects on people too. We certainly don't want you or your dog to feel that way at all. I would suggest an anti-bark spray collar for your dog instead, which sends a harmless spray towards the nose of the dog when he dog barks. If you need any further assistance, please contact our Customer Care team who are happy to help.
I have got 3 small dogs and this has no effect on any of them at all.
> PetSafe Response: Hello Simon, I'm sorry to learn that the indoor bark control has had no effect on your dogs. The ultrasonic tone may not work for some dog breeds or for some older dogs as they may find it harder to hear this high pitched sound. We have other anti-bark products that work differently (e.g. with spray) that may be more suitable for your dogs. We will reach out to you to find out what type of dogs you have to assist you further and find the best anti-bark product for your dogs. Thanks for your feedback.
Hi, are there technical details of this I can look at? Like, what decibel level it puts out? I need my dog to stop barking in the car so I need something loud enough that's going to really make him not want to carry on. I don't want to hurt him at all but it definitely needs to be loud enough so he knows to stop, not just to try and distract because we have tried everything and nothing is working. His yap is ear piercing!
