I really like this product, but one of my dogs seems to be scared of the plastic flap. Are there alternative flaps that fit this door? Maybe a rubber flap?
> PetSafe Response: Hi Jamie, thank you for getting in touch with your question. I'm afraid that this model is only available with rigid flaps.
We do have a couple of suggestions to help you try and gradually teach your dog to get used to the flap. First, perhaps put a little smudge of dog food on the flap itself and show him it's there, when hungry he will usually lick it off! He'll become more used to the flap and learn that it will not harm him. Another idea you can try, is to hold the flap open with some string and sit at the other side with some treats! When comes through a few times you could lower the flap a little, repeat, lower, and so on until he feels the door tip his back. Let him try this a few times to eventually letting him use the door once fully closed.
It'll take a few hours or so, possibly a day, but should really help.
Cat flap installed and being used ok. Decided to lock it so my cat wasn't able to go out. Now I cannot get it to open both ways. It will open in but not out. Any idea as to what I can do please?
> PetSafe Response: Hi Carol, I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with the lock. If you could try loosening the screw a little on the flap this will release the pressure on the lock and allow it to turn. Hopefully this solves your issue, but if not you can call our Customer Care team on our freephone number who can help further. Thanks!
Excellent cat door for a large cat who gets stuck in the average cat flap! A delighted Maxipuss Suppurier, went in and out and in again, with a delighted wiggle of his belly,
> PetSafe Response: We are so glad to hear both you and Maxipuss Suppurier are pleased with your BigCat/Small Dog door, nothing like a good belly wiggle to keep a Purrfect Pussycat Happy.
