The PetSafe® Anti-Bark Spray Collar™ Basic Spray Bark Control is simple to operate. When the sound of your dog's bark triggers the microphone, a burst of spray is emitted which dogs find unpleasant. While not harmful, it is a sufficient deterrent to excessive barking.
I have a 4 yr old chihuahua and she has anxiety that causes her to bark constantly when we leave the house. I bought the 79.00 model of the citronella bark collar and it worked like a charm for 2 months. After the 2 months is just stopped working one day, replaced the battery, and spray (obviously) but nothing worked. Went back and bought the more expensive version and it just didn't work right out the box...took it back to get the same model of the first one we bought in hopes that it wouldn't just stop working like the first time but of course your bark collar just stopped working. I changed the battery and refilled it to the point where it sprayed back at me it was so full. I then bought your shock collar that is just ineffective.. it just made her bark more. You guys need to make a more consistent product that works consistently. The cheaper spray model works wonders if it doesn't stop working out of no where. I have probably spent more than 400.00$ on your products in less than 6months because this is the ONLY bark collar company. Im going nuts, i'm about to get her voice box removed.

I bought this product for my 1.5 year old cockapoo who anxiously barks at every random noise and everyone. He is a very anxious dog and this contributes to the barking. Aside from the barking he is such a good little guy. I was excited to try this product as I have been in desperate need of some relief form the sporadic bouts of barking that tend to startle me to no end.
I brought the product home, read the entire guide, fit the collar on my dog as instructed and then prepared the product EXACTLY as stated. Once filled, I placed the collar around his neck and turned the switch to the "on" position. That's when the device gave off two sprays while my dog was doing nothing but standing still. A few minutes later I went to check that the collar was still in a good position and it sprayed AGAIN. My dog didn't even bark.
At this point in time, my dog was terrified having been sprayed now 3 times for no reason. I carried him to the couch (he refused to move). When I finally got him to move, he jumped off the couch and the device once again sprayed him TWO TIMES (again he didn't bark). After this I decided to take the collar off.
Does your company understand the repercussions of negatively reinforcing the wrong behaviour? It's been three hours since my dog has had the collar on and he won't move. Why? Because he's afraid to. He's been sprayed 5 times for doing nothing other than walking, standing and jumping. He now associates the spray with regular movement and he isn't even wearing the device anymore. What a horrible malfunctioning product. You would think when you are dealing with such sensitive issues you would put more care and consideration in to product design. I'm convinced by how much he dislikes the spray that with a properly functioning product, it might actually be a deterrent.........but not when it's constantly reinforcing the WRONG behaviour. I'm so disappointed and my poor dog is traumatized for no reason.
We're very sorry to hear that your Anti-Bark Spray Collar is not working properly! If you are noticing that the collar seems to be going off far too easily and even when your dog is not barking, be sure that the collar is fit snugly enough that it does not move or shift on your dog's neck when your dog moves around. Because the collar is activated by audio detected by the microphone on the back of the collar, if the collar is allowed to move around too much, it can rub against your dog's fur and create feedback in the microphone which can then cause it to activate when it should not. If the fit is snug enough that the collar stays stationary, but it still seems far too sensitive or activates randomly, please give us another call and we'll be more than happy to assist you with getting it working properly or, should troubleshooting fail, replaced under the warranty.
I have purchased approximately 10 of these collars over the last six years and have found that everyone has a problem with refilling the gas after a few months, hence the purchase of so many. Is it possible to replace the refill jet?
> PetSafe Response: Hello Susan, we'll contact you directly to see if we can help find a solution for you to have this working again very soon. Although the refill valve is not available as a spare part, sometimes the small black rubber O ring can go missing which is essential to refilling. Thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback.
